Lea still isn't sure what to make of the whole situation. By this time he'd heard so much about Master Aqua this and Master Aqua that that he practically felt like he'd known her, despite the fact that they'd never met. Finding her in the Realm of Darkness with that silver hair and those sick, sallow yellow eyes, though, had shaken him. It had been hard enough to see Isa a fallen vessel of Xehanort, but if someone so devoted to the light as Aqua--the paradigm of all that was good and pure about Keyblade Masters--could fall to the Darkness, then is there any hope of winning this war at all?

He doesn't want to think about it, and in the end, they had managed to help Aqua regain enough of herself that she wasn't lost to Xehanort's control anymore. At least, it seems that way. She's been asleep most of the time since they returned anyway, but at least her eyes had been... more green than gold, last he'd checked. It was progress, but there had still been a guard outside the door to her room in the tower from the moment they'd returned. Lea doesn't mind taking a shift, but he can't deny a little nervousness. If Yen Sid's stories are even half-true, he's pretty sure he won't stand a chance against her if Xehanort's influence regains control and she decides she wants to destroy them all, but he doesn't want to think about that, either.

Sitting backwards in a chair outside her room, Lea rests his arms on the back of it and pillows his chin on them with a sigh. He's only half an hour into this guard shift, and he's already bored.

[The moment that Axel had reappeared in the waking world and stepped into their lives claiming that he was human again, Riku had been suspicious of him. After everything that had transpired, after Axel had kidnapped Kairi and put Sora in danger to further his own agenda, it's difficult for Riku to believe that he could be trusted. He may have regained his heart, but he has yet to prove that he deserves to hang around Sora as much as he does.

Maybe Riku is being a bit overprotective; Sora can handle himself just fine. Most of the time, anyway. Sometimes Riku has to rush in and save him, but Sora has saved him just as much. What bothers him the most isn't Sora's ability to defend himself, it's his overly trusting nature. Too many times Riku has seen Sora try to make friends with people who only wished to use him, and he has no intentions of letting that happen ever again.

They may have been separated for a while, but now that they're back together again, Riku will defend Sora with his life, and do anything and everything in his power to keep him from getting hurt. That includes making sure that Axel...or "Lea", as he calls himself now, knows that he's treading on thin ice with Riku.

He decides that today is a good day to inform him of that fact when he sees Lea sharing some sea salt ice cream with Sora on the balcony of Yen Sid's tower.

He hangs back, leaning against the wall just inside the room by the door leading out to the balcony as he waits for Sora to wander off. He doesn't need to hear what he's about to say to Lea.

Finally Sora yawns and heads off to bed, bidding Lea goodbye and completely missing Riku's presence as he brushes past him. Jeeze, if he'd been a bad guy Sora would've gotten kidnapped just now. Learn to be more vigilant, Sora.

Riku waits until he disappears around the corner before he pushes off the wall and steps out onto the balcony, arms crossed and face scrunched up in a disapproving look. He really is like an overprotective dad, isn't he?
]

"Axel," Riku starts, then quickly corrects himself, though he's not sure why he bothers, "Lea, I mean. We need to talk."
